What does Ticino, Australia and Fiji have in common?

The answer is Marisa Freddi, born in Cevio, Valle Maggia, growing up as a young girl in Menzonio Ticino, Switzerland.

As a child, Marisa knew she wanted to experience freedom.

The village life of Menzonio could not offer this freedom so her life’s search for freedom began. Moving around the world Marisa experienced different languages, foods and cultures. Her “butterfly spirit” calling her somewhere, not knowing where, searching through the never-ending challenges daily expanding her experiences.

Travelling to

  • Scotland,
  • UK,
  • France,
  • Germany,
  • Austria,
  • New Zealand
  • then Australia

Marisa finally discovered a favourite city to live, Brisbane Australia. Arriving in Australia on the "other side of the world", at the age of 24 with only basic English skills, she struggled for years while her brain reorganised to learn a new culture, language and lifestyle. The challenges of gaining work experience, local business knowledge and sales skills pushed her to tears many times.

She worked in a bakery, followed by Brisbane based Software Development Company, Mincom. Marrying changed her surname to Wiman, with wonderful bonus loving parents in law.

Having studied business as a Swiss apprentice gave her the funda

mentals, but all the rules and principles were different plus global internet technology advances then usage in business presented huge challenges. Not being a technical person she was continually disadvantaged, challenged on every step.

Studying global business, she learnt and adapted the systems and process’s as a company director, helping create the Greymouse business’s. Marisa used all her business, language and cultural skills developing a business that spans across borders, countries, and cultures. Now her business (Greymouse) has 35 staff in Fiji providing Information Technology (IT), Call center and Network Operations Center, (NOC) 24 hours per day, 7 days a week to business mainly in the Asia pacific region. Using a reseller channel model Greymouse touches 393 businesses in 24 countries.   Marisa’s Swiss upbringing, attention to detail and desire for “butterfly freedom” ensures the business systems work without her direct involvement.

The new business strategies include,

  • Outsourcing
  • Globalisation
  • Location Independence
  • Freedom Business

Strangely these words are not easily translatable into Italian, plus the fundamental concepts not accepted. In some spheres, it is considered almost alien. During the last journey back to her village, Marisa struggled to translate the internet business concepts, allowing family and friends to understand how the internet made her free. To this day, her mountain village family remain confused at what she has accomplished, but clearly realise the “butterfly” achieved her freedom.

Marisa now calls home the Sunshine Coast, Australia, where blue warm waters wash against white sandy beaches. Warm sunshine every day of the year, vast flat open country, contrasting her natural mountain birthplace. Marisa lives her dream of freedom every day with her husband and author Kelvin, Peanut (pet dog) and Tasha her newly family member… and much-loved geraniums on every step of her house.

Retirement is not on her plans, as she can experience a “retirement lifestyle” whenever she wants. “Life is a continual journey of learning, evolving and growing. Nature is all growing, evolving and changing, this is why I do the same.” explained Marisa. “Enjoy every day, Freedom is about your lifetime journey not about the destination.”
Marisa is planning to return to Ticino again during 2013, to share the global business opportunities for any business owner that wants to learn and share in the possibilities. This way she can give back to her fellow Swiss how to achieve freedom like a “butterfly.”

Marisa loves her pets ,

  • Peanut (mini foxie) and
  • Tasha (tabby cat).

Sharing every day together living life the way I want with Kelvin, my husband.

I hate learning new technology, it really stresses me out! But when i learn to use the iPad, Kindle and all the other gadgets Kelvin shows me, they transform my life.
